The day time bite
has been good for walleyes. The ice houses are in 9 to 14
feet of water and they all seem to be catching fish. We're
still seeing a few bonus perch and crappie being caught, but
the real action has been coming from the walleyes. We're
seeing many limits of fish being caught during the daylight
hours. The western edge remains hot. The night time bite has
been a little more sporadic. Some nights it has been fair,
other nights good, and other nights it's been down right
fantastic. We have 19 inches of ice on the southern half of
the lake. Our roads are in great shape. There has been very
few ice heaves on the southern half of the lake. Big ice
house rigs can go just about anywhere they want.
Like's good on the LAKE!

We've got most of the ice houses out.
They're
about 1/4 of a mile out from shore and just about as far to
the west as we can go. It seems like the best walleye bite
has been occurring near the reservation border on the
gravel/rocks. The walleye been has been fair. The day bit
seems to be just as good as the night bite. Anglers willing
to put in their time have been catching their limits of slot
fish. We're also seeing a few bonus crappie and perch being
caught, but nothing consistent. The roads are in good shape.
We've seen very little heaving this year. We've got about 14
inches of ice and making more daily. It won't be long and
the big pull behind ice houses will be able to hit the lake..

We've got about
11-12 inches on our end of Red
Lake, but we're only advising ATV traffic at this time. We
have good marked roads out to six miles at this time. The
water is starting to clear up and the fishing has definitely
picked up in the last few days. The best depth have been
about 1/4 mile out in 11 feet of water. The limit was
increased this year to three fish. Most anglers that have
been putting in their time have been catching limits.
December 3, 2008
We've got the ice houses out
about 3/4 of a mile. We're in 10 feet of water and there's
about 10-12 inches of ice. The ice is good and it's making
ice every single night. We've got several houses in 10 feet
of water right now and they're all catching fish. The best
bite has been occurring about an hour before sunset twill
about an hour after sunset. The new walleye limit this year
is three fish. All walleyes between 17 & 26 inches have to
be released.
We've got several new houses this year!
We've added several new ice houses to the fleet this year.
There's nothing like fishing out of an Ice Castle fish
house. Give us a call. We're moving more ice houses out on
the lake each day.
Stay tuned and
Good Fishing!
